Hi all, this is my post respond to question on how to add custom emoticon on my friendster comment. Just try to share the idea.

Tips #1 : Add Custom Emoticon on Friendster Comment Box

Actually, it isn’t that hard to add emoticon image to friendster’s comment box. If u’re familiar with html, then this wouldn’t be any matter at all, but for those who didn’t, hopely this could be usefull.

1. First of all, we need the emoticons image source site. For ur reference, u can use Yahoo! Messenger’s Emoticons (standard emoticons or hidden emoticons) or maybe u got other site referals. Open the site until it display all the emoticons preview. Right click on which emoticon image u want to use, and select “Copy Image Address” (for Opera user) or “Copy Image Location“ (for FireFox user). *) For Internet Explorer users, right click on the image and select properties, copy all text in “Address: (URL)” section.
2. Select the profile u want to add comment from Friendster, and then prepare to write the comment for them.
3. To add image inside the comment box, just type:

   <img src='[paste_here]'>

   Replace the text [paste_here] with the image link you have copied on step 1. The result should be like this:

   <img src='http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/65.gif'>

   There, that’s all we need to do.

4. I prefer emoticons from Yahoo!Messenger because they had small file size, use transparency (white BG image might looks awfull if the BG color of friendster profile is in other colour), small image size (22×18 pixels), and nice looks..
5. But, here’s another emoticon site referal (dun hv transparency): www.addEmoticon.com.

Tips #2 : Custom Background in Friendster Profile

1. Edit an image file you want to use as friendster background (use photoshop or other image processing software).
2. Upload it to your friendster profile or other image hosting sites.
3. Copy the image link you had upload (please see Tips #1: step 1). Make sure the image link you had copy is in the real size (not thumbnail)
4. Customize your Friendster Profile using Friendster CSS Generator (Michael’s Friendster Profile Editor).
5. Paste the image url from step #3 to section PAGE BACKGROUND, Image URL. Generate the css and copy-paste it to Friendster’s Customize Profile and click “save”.
6. Refresh yor friendster profile. The BG image should be changed now.

This might be an old trick of using Google to search for files in specified site, but for those who dont know before, here it is..

The actual implementation of this url link is search for keyword: “.rar OR .zip OR .pdf OR .exe site:rapidshare.com” in Google.

.rar, .zip, .pdf, and .exe is the filetype u wish to search in RapidShare (or any other site u want in the keyword “site:…”), since most of the file stored in rapidshare using these kinda extension.

If this trick is too full of meticulous details for you, you might want to use “automated” site such as http://www.oneclickfiles.com/. It’s more simple, all u have to do is type a keyword in their “indirect modified-google” search engine.

YouTube surely become the largest video sharing provider in the web. Anyhow, the video file is meant for web-watch only and cannot be saved directly from the site. Therefore, lots of software is being developed to automatically download the video content based on url address we typed. But, the latest software i tried to do this (YouTube Downloader) seems didn’t succeeded in doing this. A friend of mine told me that these kinda automatic-downloader software is no longer able to do its task, since YouTube already block it. :( phuw, sad newz..

But wait, then i’ve think of something quite handy to keep the video content from YT. Here’s the step-by-step tutorial:

1.  Open your fave web browser (IE, Opera, Firefox, etc..) and clear the cache/temporary dir. You can find the list of browser’s temporary folder below. Make sure u already had the video content’s url (eq. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMWl_5NujBw) u want to save. Type it to the address bar and open it.
2. Your browser will try to open the page and save all the resources in its temp file/cache dir. ;p Already had the clue? Yupe, our goal is to find the temp file of the video content in the browser’s cache dir. Wait till the video is loaded completely.
3. Next step, explore the temp file/cache dir of ur browser and search for a .tmp extension file. I think that file would have a size more than 1 Megs. That’s why it’s important to erase all the files in ur browser’s cache dir in step 1. Rename the file to something else u like and change the file extension from “.tmp” to ”.flv”. Copy the file to other place u prefer.
4. That’s it, the file u’ve copy is the video file, but in a .flv (flash video) file-type. Ordinary video player like Windows Media Player (old) cannot play this kinda file. Therefore there’s two option you can choose: Using alternative player to open the file (FLV Player YouTube, Moyea FLV Player, and Media Player Classic from K-Lite Codec would be fine) or convert the file to other familiar file-type like .avi, .mpg using video converter (FLV to Video Converter).

REALbasic

REALbasic is a rapid application development environment that compiles native applications for Windows, Macintosh and Linux.

Interesting? Seems to be an alternative engine to  develop an application, huh? The latest version is REALbasic Pro 2007 r4. For those who already familiar with BASIC (Visual Basic, etc) language, i think it wouldn’t be too difficult to learn it.

Its ability to create cross-platform application will become a plus point. Yet, there’r some site that provide resources for REALbasic developer, such as RBGarage, RBMagazine, and REAL forums.

I just found some nice Adobe PhotoShop™ resources on the Net. I realized that there are so many design elements we can share over the internet.
